Now we have a conclusion for that, there are three types of PoE, the first one is IEEE802.3af/at based or active characteristic, that's to say it will go through a rigious and standard principle of detection before supplying power from Power Source Equipment(PSE) to Powered Device(PD), which insure the safety to users and the protection to involved device; The second one relatively is passive characteristic PoE, which means the PSE is directly supplying power to the PD without advanced detection of conformity between the PSE and PD, which can cause safety and stability problem for the power supply system in case of inappropriate operation; The third one is totally fake PoE, because the power is forced to adding on the Ethernet cable directly without any power conversion and necessary circuit processing, which can cause safety accidents in regular working situation.
